Invited lecture title:System Safety Performance and Resilience of Deep Excavation and Underground Engineering

Prof. Xuesong Cheng is a Professor of Civil Engineering at Tianjin University, China. He also serves as Deputy Director of Department of Civil Engineering and Director of Laboratory of Underground Engineering at Tianjin University. He got his Ph.D. degree from Tianjin University in 2013. From 10/2011 to 10/2012, he worked as a visiting scholar at Cambridge University. From 2014 to 2016, he worked as a postdoc researcher at Tianjin University. His primary research interests include the progressive collapse problem and system safety performance of deep excavation and underground engineering, control of the influence of deep excavation on adjacent tunnel, braceless retaining structures of deep excavation and recharge technology in deep excavation engineering. Dr. Cheng has published more than 100 journal papers. He received several awards for excellence in research and teaching, including 1 First-class of Tianjin Science and Technology Award in 2017 (R12), 1 First-class of Tianjin Science and Technology Award in 2021 (R10) and 1 Second-class of Tianjin Science and Technology Award in 2021 (R1).
