Professor Zhiguo Yan works at Tongji University, specializing in tunnel fire prevention and control, evacuation and rescue, and smart disaster prevention and mitigation. He is the head of the Department of Underground Building and Engineering at the College of Civil Engineering, and the Deputy Director of the National Key Laboratory of Civil Engineering Disaster Prevention and Mitigation. He is awarded the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars, and he serves as a committee member of the Youth Expert Committee of the China Highway Society, a standing director of the Underground Engineering Division of the Chinese Society for Rock Mechanics and Engineering, and the chair of the Fire Protection and Rescue Technology Committee for Tunnels and Underground Engineering at the World Transport Convention (WTC). He is also a recipient of the Shanghai Pujiang Talent Program. His work has resulted in the publication of over 150 academic papers, with more than 70 in SCI-indexed journals.
